AFRIFF 2015 FILM PROGRAMME

A warm welcome to the 5th Africa International Film Festival. The selection in this edition is not only celebrating African cinema but demonstrates once more that the cinematic storytelling industry in Africa has become more compelling and visible.

This year’s programme is bursting with films from all corners of the continent, as more and more African filmmakers are beginning to embrace digital technology to deliver content that entertains, engages and delights. The official competition for Best Film which recognizes, distinctive and inspiring filmmaking will feature a diverse range of films; Red Leaves, a riveting feature debut by Israel based Ethiopian filmmaker Bazzi Gete.

Soheir Abdel Kader

Hyginus Ekwuazi

Hyginus EKWUAZI, PhD; is a Professor of Broadcasting & Film, Department of Theatre Arts, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. An Adjunct Professor, School of Media & Communication, Pan Atlantic University, Lagos. Asha Lovelace

Teddy Mattera

Teddy Mattera is a Film and Television Producer in South Africa, a Carnegie Fellow at Wits University and currently has his own production company, Dungamanzi Films. His filmography includes his debut feature film Max and Mona (2005) is an acclaimed creation which he wrote and directed amongst many other short films and television productions. He has just completed one of South Africa’s most memorable and expensive music videos to date for Ms. Simphiwe Dana’s ‘Bantu Biko Street’ and is getting ready to film his next feature film with DV8 films.[/text-with-icon][/item][item title=”Item” id=”1413033528351-0-9″][text-with-icon icon_type=”image_icon” icon=”icon-glass” color=”Accent-Color” icon_image=”2970″]

Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika

Dr. Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika is an Associate Professor and currently heads the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos, Nigeria. She has industry experience in broadcasting, public relations and advertising; and consults for various multilateral and bilateral agencies, management consulting firms and various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the Nigerian government.[/text-with-icon][/item][item title=”Item” id=”1445419656585-0-7″][text-with-icon icon_type=”image_icon” icon=”icon-glass” color=”Accent-Color” icon_image=”2970″]

Pedro Pimenta

Pedro Pimenta, the new festival director of the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF), started his film career with the National Film Institute of Mozambique in 1977. Since then, he has produced, co-produced or line produced numerous short fiction, documentaries and feature films in his country as well as in other African countries such as Angola, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and South Africa.

Serge-Armand Kouami Noukoue

The charistmatic Journalist and writer is a Co-founder & Executive Director of Nollywood Week film festival Paris. He has a Masters degree in Cultural Projects Management and has worked in content development and acquisitions for international platforms like Trave TV, Canal Overseas, Basic Lead and the Sithengi World Cinema and Television Festival. He currently writes as a freelance contributor to French Magazine Le Monde and other online blogs and platforms.[/text-with-icon][/item][/carousel]
