Over 5 days this course will teach candidates the basics of cinematography, the camera as well as the goal of the cinematographer. It will analyse the cinematography, Lighting for film and the three point lighting system. Candidates will learn the cinematography for short films, analyse and do practices in dissecting digital cameras. This workshop will teach candidates film set etiquette – Camera gear – Jibs, Filters, Grip, dollies, Handheld gear, etc Shooting a scene as well as articulating the directors vision.
All candidates will be expected to analyse one film everyday, chosen by the instructor, as part of the requirement for completing the course. The workshop course will explore the art of screenwriting and the business aspect of being a scriptwriter. it will entail coming up with a gem of an idea, writing a logline and synopsis, writing a treatment, writing a scene-by-scene breakdown, film reviews and assignments. it will also explore the 3-act structuring of a script. commencement of writing a screenplay, the art of writing a screenplay, concluding a first draft, critiquing a first draft, script editing, feedback, second draft to final draft, copyrighting, the art of pitching to producers/directors, commissioned scripts versus spec scripts, the art of negotiating, the expectations of a screenwriter vis-a-vis a film production, the relationship between a screenwriter and producer/director etc.
This intensive acting workshop will expound on topics such as acting for beginners, improvisation, respect for acting, prepping the actor, physically, mentally and vocally, speech diction as well as the actor’s thesaurus.. It will be a rewarding and engaging time for the candidates. It will teach them to master their craft, empower and make them better actors. It will also entail a lot of physical activity.
Candidates will learn to define and manage every visual aspect of a film, work with with the Director and Producer to produce a budget and schedule, direct and produce the visual elements e.g., sets and costumes. Learn to develop visual awareness and design skills, skills to motivate and inspire, learn to show management and leadership skills, how to prioritise and meet deadlines, have good communication and presentation skills, use tact and diplomacy and learn the requirements of the relevant health and safety legislation and procedures.
